Why write an advocacy
letter? |
|
There are
three main reasons to advocate:
-
To
ensure sport issues are addressed
-
To
influence policy making and implementation
-
To be
part of the decision making process
To impact
change in the Provincial sport system, it is our responsibility to voice
our opinions and concerns to our elected representatives. Politicians
monitor the amount of mail received from their constituents and try to
act accordingly. If they start receiving several letters regarding a
specific issue, they will develop a keen interest and concern for that
particular cause.
It is
suggested that for every letter a politician receives, thousands more
feel the same way. So, it is up to us, leaders in the sport community,
to TAKE ACTION
and let our elected representatives know that sport is
important!
